Robert Givens, LPC (Clinical Director)

Robert served in the US navy for 4 years before graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Sociology, and History, with a minor in Geography, political Science, anthropology, and economics in 1975. He then graduated in 1976 from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a master’s in counseling.

Robert has practiced in the field of counseling and mental health since 1976. He has extensive experience in adolescent and adult inpatient treatment centers, and inpatient adolescent and adult state operated mental health hospitals. He has also served in a mental health center on inpatient short term treatment, in a mental health half-way house treatment center, several outpatient mental health centers as a child, adolescent, adult, group and family therapist and as a treatment specialist for Department of human services as a child, adolescent, adult and family therapist. He has acted in the capacity of a supervisor and manager for several mental health treatment teams. For the last 5 years Robert has been involved in private practice using telehealth mental health treatment.

Robert was born in Montrose, Colorado and is a 5th generation Colorado native. He has lived in or traveled in all the States of the United States, ridden elephants and walked with tigers in Thailand, swam in all the oceans of the world except the arctic. Robert is a world traveler and has been to Europe, Mexico, Central America, Canada, Japan, China, Philippines, and the Caribbean. His hobbies include photography, wood carving, building furniture, fishing and walking in the woods.
